چکیده

In this article we extend BDDs (binary decision diagrams) for plain propositional logic to the fragment of first order logic, consisting of quantifier free logic with equality, zero and successor. We insert equations with zero and successor in BDDs, and call these objects (0, S, =)-BDDs. We extend the notion of Ordered BDDs in the presence of equality, zero and successor. (0, S, =)-BDDs can be transformed to equivalent Ordered (0, S, =)-BDDs by applying a number of rewrite rules. All paths in these extended OBDDs are satisfiable. The major advantage of transforming a formula to an equivalent Ordered (0, S, =)-BDD is that on the latter it can be observed in constant time whether the formula is a tautology, a contradiction, or just satisfiable. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 03B20, 03B25, 03B35, 03B70, 68T15

Equational Binary Decision Diagrams Equational Binary Decision Diagrams

We incorporate equations in binary decision diagrams (BDD). The resulting objects are called EQ-BDDs. A straightforward notion of ordered EQ-BDDs (EQ-OBDD) is de ned, and it is proved that each EQ-BDD is logically equivalent to an EQ-OBDD. Moreover, on EQ-OBDDs satis ability and tautology checking can be done in constant time. Several procedures to eliminate equality from BDDs have been reporte...

Finding All Solutions and Instances of Numberlink and Slitherlink by ZDDs

Link puzzles involve finding paths or a cycle in a grid that satisfy given local and global properties. This paper proposes algorithms that enumerate solutions and instances of two link puzzles, Slitherlink and Numberlink, by zero-suppressed binary decision diagrams (ZDDs). A ZDD is a compact data structure for a family of sets provided with a rich family of set operations, by which, for exampl...

An Introduction to Zero-Suppressed Binary Decision Diagrams

Zero-suppressed binary Decision Diagrams (ZDDs) have emerged as an efficient way of solving problems in set theory. This tutorial presents ZDDs and assumes that the reader is familiar with Boolean algebra and Binary Decision Diagrams, without prior knowledge of ZDDs. The case studies include the computation of the union of two sets, the generation of all primes of a Boolean function, and the co...

On Complexity of Quantum Branching Programs Computing Equality-like Boolean Functions

We consider Generalized Equality, the Hidden Subgroup, and related problems in the context of quantum Ordered Binary Decision Diagrams. For the decision versions of considered problems we show polynomial upper bounds in terms of quantum OBDD width. We apply a new modification of the fingerprinting technique and present the algorithms in circuit notation. Our algorithms require at most logarithm...
